Lavender Essential Oil

Lavender – Great for Skin, Mood and Spirit

Out of all the ingredients we use here at Pixy (from Mother Nature’s Cupboard) Lavender is one of the ingredients we love the most. This underated plant extract is arguably one of the most soothing and pleasant scents a person can ever experience. Overall Lavender is nourishing to all skin types, is soothing and promotes healthy skin.

The fragrance given off by Lavender Essential Oil is calming, relaxing and balancing – physically and emotionally and it helps with the following health related problems.

Lavender – Remedy for Many Health Problems

Sleep

Lavender essential oil induces sleep which has made it a common recommendation for an alternative treatment of insomnia. It has an ability to promote a relaxing atmosphere that leads to a restful night’s sleep. Many studies on elderly patients have shown an increase in their sleep regularity when their normal sleep medication is replaced with some lavender essential oil being placed on their pillows. It is a relaxant and has been proven to help with sleep problems.

Anxiety

Following on from sleep, Lavender has a calming scent which has often been a proven antidote to those suffering from anxiety. One of the main components of lavender is called “linalol.” Linalol is a natural chemical component and oils that are rich in linalol are soothing. Incidentally the ancient Romans and Egyptians often used Lavender oil aromatically for relaxation purposes.

Sun Exposure

Sun exposure is good, but too much of it can cause irritated skin. Thankfully, Lavender oil holds many soothing properties that are perfect for calming occasional skin irritations. If you find your skin is irritated from too much sun Lavender Essential Oil will help sooth away the irritation.

Acne

Lavender is one of the most valuable oils for the treatment of acne, according to aromatherapists. It inhibits the bacteria that cause the skin infection, helps to rebalance the over-secretion of sebum, which the bacteria thrive on, and reduce scarring. Add a few drops of lavender oil to a plain cream sold by chemists and use as a moisturizer or cleanser.
